Baby Jordan-tiny miracle

Do you remember my post awhile back about baby Jordan? He made his appearance at 26 weeks, and the little squirt is a fighter! I thought about this little angel all the time . I drove up to the University of Utah Hospital to photograph him the first time. It was such a neat experience to see him fighting!

not only fighting but Smiling!!

My only experience with a baby this new had been through the orginization Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (NILMDTS) , which is an amazing non profit I am humbled to be apart of. But that is for another post entirely! ( you can go to the WEBSITE for more info )

He was sooo awake when I first came, I got to see this huge dark eyes.

He was such a miracle baby! It was amazing to see this little man!

I was so very excited to get him in my studio , he even came in on his due date!! He was a completly different baby, so round and chunky....I mean look at those cheeks!! He gave me a workout but totally cooperated in the end for the important shot. It wouldnt have been complete without my Jordan jersey :)

This little guy had a really scary start at life, both him and his mom almost didn't make it. His sweet Mom spent weeks a hospital in Vegas completely away from him. I was so excited to photograph him and his little sweetness. He was such a trooper at 6 weeks old!

I cant say I don't try with Mac to get pictures. I thought it would be sooo cute if he carried the dog around. He hasn't left it alone since Shayla brought him home. (yes I am not crazy enough to get a dog, he was at our house for a week until we found him a home :)

He really is a cute puppy...but all puppies are cute

I thought that if i set it up so that the puppy and him played it would be perfect....but he cried when we put him down, that scared the puppy so he ran away...and then he cried even more.

So we tied the puppy to him....well that just pissed him right off

Oh well I laughed so hard when I was going through all of these. It is so McKai.
and I am glad that I have these because this is him, this is our imperfect life.

We hiked up to the most perfect spot in Zion for pictures...Everyone kept saying how brave Tiffany was to head up the trail with her wedding dress...you should have heard the comments...there was even a collection of tourist that gathered around photographed them posed out on a ledge. It was a great session, def one I will always remember. Very Unique. Very Them.

I always hate this day, I am one of those Moms that really likes my kids home with me. Having them home for the summer is something I really do enjoy. They are great help and the babies really miss them ...Mac gets into a whole more now that they are gone all day...that kid is a monster! No actual school age kids in our family wanted to cooperate... I made the babies model for me.

This sweet families pictures have been in my drafts folder for over 3 months. I really don't have the words to express how touching this session was. I think like most of us they had rushed through life and before they realized it they had 5 kids and hadn't taken family pictures for yrs. Then some medical issues came up and I think it caused them to stop and re-evaluate what was important.

We shot this one for him, kinda like his last ride.

I sat in car after this session and cried a bit, thought about what and how I would change things if I were in the same situation. Of course I would want to spend more time with my kids, of course I would want to work less, check some things off my bucket list, travel with my husband, BUT most importantly, my first thought was I would take more pictures with me in them. I would quit worrying about being photographed looking fat. We did a family session 2 weeks later, I didn't worry too much about outfits, or if my kids smiled perfectly and I just lived in the moment. Because in the end that is all I will leave them and I want every memory possible to be a good one.

It was good have a session that really put things into perspective and I hope it does for you to.

These were suppose to be for memorial day but as you can tell by my lack of blogging (or if you are waiting on pictures ) I am super behind :)

Once we found out we were having another girl I knew I had to name her after my grandma. She helped raise us, was there for us after my parents divorced, we spent every summer with her, she taught me all about life, made me wear sunscreen, taught me to cook , she grew the most beautiful roses and most important listened and loved me. It is still hard to believe that my kids don't get to know her. I wanted to incorporate something of my grandmas' in every milestone shot so at 4 months I pulled out her clip on earrings. They looked so cute on JoJo that I almost went and got her ear pierced :)

Miss Moo Turns 8

Me and Macie have a unique relationship. We fight , we fight A LOT, she is stubborn, she is moody...she is too much like me and sometimes I dont know how we are going to make it through her teenage yrs without her hating us.

She is also one of the most business savvy, self motivated little girl I know. She started a charity at age 6 selling braclettes and giving the money to an orphanige in Haiti (this was before the earthquake...she had a hard time with that one)

She is a talker, she loves to chat.

She is the boss lady, the princess and the queen bee .

It wouldnt be a photoshoot without some sort of bug, or frog or crawly thing!

She is a poser :) She looks too old here.

The day after the shoot she was telling me that her eyebrow was itching really bad.....when I was editing these pics I found the reason why...check that out caught the little vampire in action!

Well technically this one was almost 2 months old because he was born in Germany and it took awhile to get into me (ahhhhm that is why it is a good idea to pre book your newborn sessions...if not I might not be able to fit you in with in the first two weeks of their life!) .

This cute family was so fun to get to know during our 5 hr session. Big brother loved to poke his brother and make sure he was real :) So cute!

There is something that just gets me when I photograph a tattooed daddy and newborn, the small sweetness of a baby and the strong , roughness of a Dad. So tender. I am jealous that my husband didn't get his tattoo done like I have wanted with our babies.

I have a lot of people asking my if I ever take shots of Macie when she is smiling because she is plastered all over in my house, and on my website with these somber expressions. Well let me give you a behind the scenes look at what goes on when I take her pictures!

I have a last min cancellation for an orchard session. I decide that today is the only day that this is going to work w my girls so I curl Macies hair and argue about how i didn't mean to pull it but if she held still it would happen. I tell her to get dresses. She hates the outfit, it doesn't match, she wants to wear something else...I feed the baby, load the carriage, hair bows, ruffle romper and all 4 kids in the car, turn around because I forgot my camera...finally on our way....30 mins later then I wanted to be but I figure we will have plenty of time. Macie falls asleep on the way out there, her hair is static crazy and it is COLD! Not a good way to start out. So Jusitn keeps the baby in the car I haul the buggy and rest of the props out to the spot. Set up my camera, then ask Macie to get out so I can check my lighting. I also figure that I should try to get some good ones of her right then...I now that Kam will not last long in the weather....I tell her to look at me, sweet smile, I want to see my pretty girl...this is what I get....It was cold but not that cold and her fake shivers are ridiculously dramatised. I have her take a jog around the trees to get her blood pumping. Bad idea. She falls, comes back with sticks in her hair, a hole in her leggings and tears down her face. We recover from that...I lose my patience, yell and walk away. Finally after 45 mins out there we get Kambrie out settled I take 5 shots of them together(....this was my favorite because she was checking on her to make sure she wasn't too cold.) I snap a couple of her, in between the shivering, complaints... and the pouting, I cant forget about the pouting. :)

So Ill take the somber moody expressions from her because in reality that might be all I will get when I photograph her!!

It all started with a little trip to target...I saw this sweet little things mama in the parking lot and I ran out of my car to see her newest cutest tiny one. I love me babies something fierce, I cant help it! These guys are some of my oldest clients...I think we are going on 5 yrs?? and when I found out that they were going to have another I wanted sooo badly to capture her! So the little trip to Target, turn into a parking lot booking and two days later she was in my studio posing for me! This hat fit her perfectly...I thought the whole session she looked like a lil bird.

(New hat from Maddie Lou Beanie) In my $8 vintage hat box...I have used a bit too much but I still love it! She was the tiniest little thing that chair looks gynormous compared to her! It will be fun to use it when she is 6 months or 1 yr to compare.

Oh course it happens to be on one of the busiest weekends and of course it has to start with one of m favorite families. I have been photographing these guys for about 4 yrs and I LOVE LOVE LOVE these kiddos. So beautiful, so funny and energetic! Besides making the kids freeze their tushy's off at 7:00 am they pretty much rocked the session!It was so nice of Matilda Jane to coordinate with my orchard sessions :)

I have had the most adorable little kids lately! I am just falling in love with them all!

They are from Northern Utah and her mama brought some seriously cute clothes and more importantly ...ACCESSORIZES! Check out the cute bows! I love seeing new bows and headbands!

Gotta love Naartjie...Seeing this stuff got me on another Naartijie obsession, I wasn't a fan of the fall line but spring and summer are so darling! Ive already placed 2 orders with them :)

It took awhile to get her to warm up which is one of the reasons I tell parents the session will take up to two hours...

we might have to go for a walk...

I have too many good things to say about this darling family! I jus tlove them, plain and simple love them.

I have been so excited to shoot Morgans one year pics...lets face it girls are just more fun. Better clothes, cuter props, and all the frills! I cant wait to shoot more of my Kambrie in all this fluffy girl stuff ;)

She has killer eyes so bright blue! No touch ups...they are this bright!I have the best cake lady right now. I love this one...what is even better is that the cake got left at my house and we got to eat it ! and it was YUMMY!

This little guy came in at 8 weeks, I don't typically shoot babies that old but I adore this family and I couldn't wait to met him! He is number 8, no his parents are not crazy and they do have a TV in bedroom if you were going to ask...they are just really really great parents!

I just wanted to kiss on his little lips... so super sweet
